tip-toeing
A situation seen when a horse is unwilling or unable to place the heels on the ground and loads the toe only. Typically caused by a painful condition in the heels (e.g. a hoof abscess) or on the plantar/palmar aspect of the distallimb (e.g. a tenosynovitis of the digital flexor tendon sheath). Occasionally caused by congenital or aquired flexor tendon contractions such as a severe club foot.

Le poser de pied ne se fait qu'en pince afin d'éviter que le poids entier ne soit réparti sur tout le membre. On observe le marcher en pince lors de douleurs en région postérieure des sabots ou des membres, dues à une maladie ou à des causes mécaniques (pied pinçard). Cette attitude est souvent observée lors de douleurs aiguës dans le pied (abcès, fracture…).

Um die volle Belastung der Gliedmasse zu vermeiden erfolgt die Fussung nur im Bereich der Zehe. Schmerzbedingt bei krankhaften Zuständen im hinteren Huf- oder Gliedmassenbereich. Es sind auch mechanische Ursachen möglich (Stelzfuss).
