elastomer

A polymer (elastomer = elastic + polymer) which changes its shape when force is applied and returns to its original shape after the force is removed. Rubber is an example of an elastomer and the term is often used to refer to all elastomers. Elastomers can be used as pads and packing material between the hoof and the shoe to aid shock absorbtion and disipate impact forces
