computed tomography (CT)

A form of diagnostic imaging where series or radiographs (x-rays) of an object are taken around a single axis of rotation and computer processing is used to create a three dimensional image of the object.

Méthode d'imagerie assistée par ordinateur et utilisée dans l'imagerie médicale. Le patient est soumis au balayage d'un faisceau de rayons X. La tomographie (étymologiquement «représentation par coupes») consiste à mesurer l'absorption de rayons X par les tissus, puis à numériser et reconstruire les images en 3D.
