Conformational feature of the limbs when viewed from the front or the back. The axis of the distal portion of a limb shows a lateral deviation with respect to the axis of the proximal portion of the limb. The deviation is usually at the level of the carpus, tarsus or fetlock joint. The joint in question may lie medial to (inside) the normal limb axis; carpus valgus is therefore commonly known as "knock-knees."

carpus valgus
Knock-kneed / carpusvalgus: a conformational fault of the forelimbs when viewed from the front. An imaginary line dropped from the shoulder passes through the lateral portion of the carpal joint; the carpal deviates medially.

Un valgus peut se constater à l'examen de face ou de derrière.
Défaut d'aplomb des membres thoraciques, constaté à l'examen de face: une ligne droite passant de la pointe de l'épaule au milieu du sabot passe latéralement par rapport à l'articulation du carpe. L'axe du membre est également dévié médialement à hauteur du carpe. On appelle aussi ce défaut valgus du carpe (ou genou dévié en dedans).
Défaut d'aplomb des membres postérieurs, constaté à l'examen de derrière: les articulations du tarse sont rapprochées et les pieds écartés l'un de l'autre. On appelle ce défaut également valgus du tarse (jarret clos, crochu).

Fehlstellung der Schultergliedmasse, bei der die Lotrechte vom Buggelenk zur Hufmitte lateral der Karpalgelenke verläuft. Die Gliedmassenachse ist auf Höhe des Karpus nach medial gebogen. Auch Capus valgus oder Valgusstellung genannt.
Fehlstellung der Beckengliedmasse, bei der die Sprunggelenke eng und die Füsse weit stehen. Auch kuhhessig, kälberbeinig oder Tarsus valgus genannt.
