As the term suggests, these are product used to supplement the horse with a certain nutrient or substance. They are generally fed in comparatively low quantities in addition to forage and concentrate feed, and cannot be fed as a main food source. Supplements can come in the form of powder, liquid, or pellets and they can contain vitamins, minerals, specific proteins / amino acids, or other substances the horse requires in comparatively low quantities.
