inox steel
Stainless or inox steel (inox from inoxidable) is a steelalloy with a high chromium content (10.5 - 13.0%). Stainless steel does not corrode or rust with water as ordinary steel does: the chromium forms a passive film of chromium oxide, which prevents further surface corrosion and blocks corrosion from spreading into the metal's internal structure.

The application of a layer of wear resistant metal (e.g. borium) to parts of the ground surface of the shoe that are subject to increased wear (normally the toe). It is carried out using either arc or torch welding techniques.
