pumiced foot
A hoof with a sole that is convex rather than concave, it may even protrude below the level of the bearing edge. The entire sole may be affected or parts thereof. This may be a feature of hooves in horses with chroniclaminitis.

The sole is the horn surface on the ground facing side of the foot found within the borders of the white line. It is surrounded by the bearing edge and the bars. It does not include the frog.

A separation within the layers of the horn of the sole which usually remains undiscovered until the sole is trimmed. The disorder may originate from an inflammation of the corium of the sole (pododermatitis of the sole).
