Hardener in farriery is used for grip and to prolong the life of the horseshoe, helping it resist excessive wear. Hardner is applied to the ground surface of the horseshoe where the resistance is needed.
Hardner also refers to a substance that, when mixed with a synthetic polymer or silicone will promote hardening or curing.
