sensitive lamella

A leaf-like structure that is a feature of the lamellar dermis that covers the parietal surface of the coffin bone. There are approximately 600 primary lamellae running in a proximo-distal direction down the entire dorsal surface of the distal phalanx. The lamella project at right angles to the surface of the bone and are perpendicular to the papilla of the coronary dermis. Each primary lamella is covered in 100-200 secondary lamellae which also extend in a proximo distal direction and serve to increase the surface area of the dermis. The horn covering the lamellar dermis is the inner most layer of the hoof wall (stratum lamellatum).

Neben den «Zotten» oder «Papillen» mögliche morphologische Erscheinungsform der Lederhautoberfläche. Mit blossem Auge sind Primärlamellen erkennbar, mikroskopisch auch sogenannte Sekundärlamellen. Diese Form von Lederhautoberfläche gibt es am Huf nur im Bereich des Wandsegmentes und ist der dermale Anteil des Hufbeinträgers.

Unter dem Begriff «weiches Blättchen» versteht man die Lederhautlamelle einschliesslich der Keimschicht der Epidermis (Stratum germinativum).

The innermost layer of horn that is immediately adjacent to dermal lamellae (the dermis covering the dorsal surface of the distal phalanx). There are approx. 600 epidermal (horny) lamellae running vertically down the length of the inner hoof wall, these are covered in many more tiny secondary lamellae. The epidermal lamellae mirror the appearance of the dermal lamellae.
