aseptic pododermatitis
Bruising of the soft tissue (corium) underneath the horn of the sole, most commonly found in the angle of the sole. The bruising leads to a reddish discolouration of the horn which when pared away may be dry (dry corn) or reveal an accumulation of serum underneath the horn (moist corn). Corns may be caused by shoes which have been left on for too long resulting in the heels and walls growing over the outer edge, forcing the heels of the shoe onto the softer horn in the angle of the sole.

La bleime est un hématome situé en principe dans le creux des arcs-boutants, provoqué par un traumatisme (contusion ou meurtrissure) sur le chorion solaire. On remarque les bleimes lors du parage car la corne est visiblement rouge. Les bleimes peuvent être sèches ou humides et sont une forme non purulente de pododermatite. Des abcès peuvent se former s'il y a invasion bactérienne. Les autres hématomes visibles sur la corne sont souvent aussi appelés des bleimes.

Die betroffenen Bereiche sind beim Ausschneiden als rot gefärbtes Horn sichtbar, sie können feucht oder trocken sein, Steingallen sind eine Form der nichteitrigen lokalisierten Huflederhautentzündung. Dringen Bakterien ein, kann sich auch ein Hufabszess ausbilden.

keratinisation
This term refers to the process by which epithelial cells are transformed into horny tissue through the increasing incorporation of keratin filaments into the cellular matrix.

On entend par kératinisation la transformation des cellules de l'épiderme en cornéocytes. Lors de la kératinisation, la production de kératine est d'une part augmentée, de l'autre les cellules s'aplatissent, leur noyau dégénère et leur membrane se durcit, aboutissant à la cornification.
Les processus de kératinisation ont lieu lors du renouvellement de la peau et des muqueuses, ainsi que lors de la pousse de cornes et de sabots.

Darunter versteht man die Umbildung von Epithelzellen zu Hornzellen. Bei der Verhornung wird einerseits vermehrt Keratin gebildet, andererseits flachen die Zellen ab und der Zellkern geht zu Grunde. Verhornungsprozesse finden bei der Erneuerung von Haut und Schleimhaut statt, sowie beim Wachstum von Hörnern, Hufen und Klauen.
