olecranon bursitis
shoe boil
A swelling in the region of the point of the elbow (over the olecranon) which is caused by repeated trauma or pressure. Common causes are horses shod with permanent studs or calks lying with flexed forelimbs. Thickening of the skin and subcutis is frequently accompanied by an accumulation of fluid in the olecranon bursa (fluid filled sack over the point of the elbow).

Les hygromas du coude sont un gonflement apparaissant dans la région du bec de l'olécrâne à la suite d'irritations ou de chocs répétés. Ce tableau clinique est bien connu chez les équidés et les canidés.
L'hygroma est l'inflammation de la bourse olécrânienne (bursa subcutanea olecrani), ainsi que du derme et de l'hypoderme.
Lorsque l'hygroma s'infecte, on parle de forme purulente de l'hygroma.

In der Regel durch äussere Reize (z.B. Stollen) bedingte Anschwellung in der Gegend des Ellbogenhöckers. Bei Pferd und Hund bekanntes Krankheitsbild. Betroffen sind Haut, Unterhaut und der Ellenbogenschleimbeutel (Bursa olecrani). Die nicht eitrige (aseptische) ist von der eitrigen Form der Stollbeule zu unterscheiden.
