A measure of peripheral perfusion (circulation in the capillary blood vessels). It is assessed by applying digital pressure to the gums of an animal for approximately 5s to cause blanching (a white patch caused by the blood being forced out of the capillary blood vessels). Subsequnently the time taken for the blood to return and the area to return to its normal pink colour is asssessed. Normal capillary refill time is 2s.

Il s'agit de presser la muqueuse buccale avec le pouce le cheval pendant 5 secondes puis de mesurer le temps qu'il faut pour que la muqueuse repasse du blanc au rose. Le laps de temps normal est de 2 secondes.

Mass für die Qualität der peripheren Mikrozirkulation (Kapillardurchblutung). Um diese beim Pferd zu prüfen, wird mit dem Daumen 5 Sekunden auf eine einfach zugängliche Stelle der Maulschleimhaut gedrückt. Die benötigte Zeit, für den Wechsel der Schleimhautfarbe zurück von weiss zu rosarot, wird als Kapillarfüllungszeit bezeichnet. Im Normalfall ist sie bis zu 2 Sekunden lang.
