A term used in animal feed analysis. The crude ash content represents the inorganic mass that remains after combustion of the entire organic mass. This is done by heating the sample to 550°C for at least 4 hours.

A term used in animal feed analysis. Crude fibre is the fraction of the sample which is not soluble in a defined concentration of acids and alkalis. Crude fibres include long chain carbohydrates such as cellulose.

A male horse where one testicle (occasionaly both) has failed to descend into the scrotum and is retained in the abdominal cavity or the inguinal canal.
An abdominal testicle is unable to produce viable sperm, but is capable of producing testosterone. If the descended testicle has been removed, the animal appears to be a gelding, but with notably stallion-like behaviour.

Cryptorchid stallion
A blemish of the hindlimb that is visible from the side as a protrusion on the plantar contour of the limb just below the hock. This enlargement is caused by a thickening of the plantarligament and the plantar aspect of the fibular tarsal bone.
