Code of Conduct for the Welfare of the Horse
The FEI is committed to consider the welfare of horses in all operations, regardless of the discipline or level of the sport. The FEI Code of Conduct for the Welfare of the Horse outlines the objectives for all people involved in equine management, development, training, competition, and retirement of horses.
This code of conduct was established as a part of the animal welfare work within the sport in 2013. The Code of Conduct for the Welfare of the Horse is a policy document for everyone involved in the sport to adapt their husbandry and training of horses.
Adherence to the Code of Conduct for the Welfare of the Horse is necessary to ensure horse welfare in everyday management and to protect horses against overuse or abuse.
Welfare of the horse is paramount and important for the industry’s Social License to Operate. Everyone must be aware of and adhere to this Code of Conduct for the Welfare for the Horse.
