The Equine Athlete
Surface Testing: Implications for Equine Performance and Injury
by Dr Dani Holt
Objective methods of measuring the functional surface properties have been developed and their use must be encouraged. It is possible to measure functional surface properties that influence the vertical and horizontal forces and accelerations that occur during the hoof surface interaction.
The presentation was recorded when the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) hosted a day of demonstrations from equine researchers at Myerscough College in December 2015.
