The Equine Athlete

Straightness and Symmetry

By Dr Hilary Clayton

This talk explores the control of locomotion with regard to asymmetry and crookedness in sound horses. Sidedness originates in the brain and follows a fairly consistent pattern from horse to horse, though of course some horses are left-sided and some are right-sided, which produces a mirror image of the pattern.
