check ligament
Both the deep and the superficial flexor tendon (DDFT, SDFT) are supported by an accessory ligament. The accessory ligament of the DDFT is also known as the carpal or inferior check ligament, it originates from the palmar aspects of the carpus and joins the tendon in the middle of the metacarpus. The accessory ligament of the SDFT is also known as the radial or superior check ligament, it originates from the medio-distal aspect of the radius and joins the tendon just above the level of the carpal joint.

Das Unterstützungsband der TBS entspringt proximal und palmar am Karpus, um sich in der Mitte der Röhre mit der TBS zu vereinen, das der OBS entspringt am distalen Radius um sich kurz über dem Karpus mit der OBS zu vereinen.

Tendons and tendon sheaths lying within an annularligament are constrained from all sides (between bone and anular ligament). If the tendons or tendon sheaths become swollen or the ligament constricts (e.g. due to direct injury) the build up of pressure can cause inflammation, pain and serious lameness. The surgical sectioning (division) of the annularligament can relieve the pressure and lead to healing of the previously encased structures .

Les tendons fléchisseurs sont entourés à ce niveau de la gaine synoviale digitale, composée des ligaments inter-sésamoïdiens et du ligament annulaire du boulet. Un canal trop étroit ou une compression des structures y passant peuvent conduire à une inflammation, des douleurs et une boiterie.
Le ligament annulaire du boulet peut faire l'objet d'une intervention chirurgicale sous forme de desmotomie, afin de lever rapidement la compression des structures.

Zusammen mit den Gleichbeinen und einigen Bändern bildet das Fesselringband den sogenannten Fesseltunnel, in dem die Beugesehnen laufen. Ist hierfür zu wenig Platz vorhanden und werden die im Fesseltunnel liegenden Strukturen eingeengt, kann dies zu Entzündungen, Schmerzen und Lahmheiten führen, man spricht vom Fesselringbandsyndrom. Zur Therapie kann das Fesselringband chirurgisch durchtrennt werden.

A ligament that originates and inserts on the side of a joint and provides stabilisation for the joint. Most joints have collateral ligaments on the medial and lateral sides.

distal navicular ligament
The ligament between the navicular bone and the distal phalanx (coffin bone). In contrast to most ligaments which exist in pairs (one on the medial and one on the lateral side of the limb), there is only one of these ligaments in each limb, hence its common name 'impar' ligament.
