This is a form of percussion testing and is part of a thorough lameness examination. The hoof wall is systematically tapped with a synthetic mallet to evaluate a possible pain response, signalised by the (reproducible) pulling away of the limb when a painful area is struck.

Dans le cadre d'un examen de boiterie, on utilise cette méthode afin de trouver les modifications douloureuses dans le sabot. La boîte cornée est donc systématiquement percutée avec un marteau à tête en nylon.
Si le cheval tressaille ou retire le membre, la réaction est considérée comme douloureuse et positive.

Im Rahmen der Lahmheitsuntersuchung angewandte Massnahme zum Auffinden von schmerzhaften Veränderungen im Bereich des Hufes. Hierzu wird die Hornkapsel systematisch mit einem Kunststoffhammer abgeklopft. Das Zucken oder Wegziehen der Gliedmasse wird als schmerzhafte, positive Reaktion bewertet.
