Conformational term. The point of the croup is visibly higher or lower then the point of the withers. If the withers are higher than the croup a horse is said to be over-built in front, if the withers are lower than the croup it is over-built behind (croup-high). During growth, young horses are frequently 'unlevel' with the croup and the withers at unequal heights, this may be regarded as normal.

Terme emprunté à l'examen de la conformation. Le garrot et la croupe ne sont pas à la même hauteur.
Cela est considéré comme normal passagèrement chez les jeunes animaux dont la croissance n'est pas terminée.
Le cheval peut être «montant» lorsque le garrot est plus haut que la croupe ou à l'inverse «bâti en descendant».

Begriff aus der Exterieurbeurteilung. Widerrist und Kruppe haben nicht die gleiche Höhe. Bei Jungtieren im Wachstum wird diese Erscheinung vorübergehend als normal angesehen. Man unterscheidet hinten und vorne überbaut.
