digital extension test
Definition
A provocation test used during a lameness examination. The horse's distal limb is artificially hyperextended by placing the hoof on the end of a board and lifting the other end. This will put pressure on the palmar region of the foot by increasing the tension in the deep flexor tendon, this in turn, will accentuate pain in this region of the foot and will cause the horse to hop off the board. The test is more difficult to interpret than a flexion test and must be evaluated carefully; frequently a left-right comparison is useful.

Le test de la planche consiste à mettre en extension les articulations du pied; on peut ainsi mettre en évidence les processus douloureux dans la région de la podotrochlée (os naviculaire, bourse podotrochléaire et partie inférieure du tendon fléchisseur).
Le test est considéré comme positif lorsque le cheval montre des signes de douleur : il se crispe visiblement ou saute de la planche. On apportera une attention toute particulière à la comparaison des deux membres antérieurs.

Durch Überstrecken der Zehengelenke werden schmerzhafte Prozesse im Bereich der Hufrolle (Strahlbein, Hufrollenschleimbeutel und unterer Beugesehnenabschnitt) aufgedeckt. Die Probe wird als positiv bewertet, wenn das Pferd sich deutlich verspannt oder vom Brett springt. Besonderes Augenmerk gilt hier dem Vergleich der Befunde beider Vordergliedmassen.
