coronary cushion
Definition
The prominence above the dorsal edge of the hoof capsule which is created by a ridge of subcutaneous tissue with a good blood supply and the coronary and perioplic corium. The more prominent the coronary cushion, the thicker the horn of the hoof wall that grows down from it.
