speedy cutting /Definition
A gait abnormality where the hoof of a limb in the protraction phase strikes the medial side of the contralateral limb in the stance phase. The point of contact can be anywhere between the coronary band and the carpus (knee) in the forelimb or proximal cannon in the hindlimb.The injury caused by this type of interference ranges from patches of roughened hair to open wounds. The regions of the hoof responsible for the interference include toe, quarter and heel.

Le cheval se coupe en général sur le côté médial du membre. La hauteur des blessures varie, allant de l'articulation du carpe au bord coronal sur le membre antérieur et du canon au bord coronal sur le membre postérieur.
Les marques peuvent aller de poils hérissés, usés (on dit que le cheval se frise), à des régions dépilées, voire à des cicatrices ou des plaies ouvertes.
Selon l'endroit (non l'endroit où le cheval se coupe, mais selon la région du fer qui le coupe) on dit que le cheval se coupe en talons, en mamelles, en quartier ou en pince.
Bewegungsstörung des Pferdes. Streifen oder Streichen ist das wiederholte seitliche Anschlagen des Hufes einer vorschwingenden Gliedmasse gegen die stützende Gliedmasse. In der Regel streicht das Pferd an der Innenseite der Gliedmasse. Die Höhe der Streichspuren variiert an der Vordergliedmasse von Karpalgelenk bis Kronrand, an der Hintergliedmasse von der Röhre bis zum Kronrand. Die Spuren reichen von rauhen, aufgestellten Haaren über haarlose Stellen bis zu Narben und offenen Wunden.
Je nachdem welcher Teil des Hufes die kontrolaterale Gliedmasse berührt unterscheidet man Trachten-, Seiten- oder Zehenstreifen.
