Thoroughbred
Definition
Breeds of horse that can trace their ancestry exclusivly to Oriental and Arabian horses; these include the Arabian Thoroughbred (Arab), the English Thoroughbred and the Anglo-Arab (a cross between the two).
Commonly the term is only used in connection with the English Thoroughbred.
Translations :
Pferde deren Abstammung auf Araberpferde zurückgeht. Dazu zählen heute das arabische Vollblut, das englische Vollblut und der Anglo-Araber.
Im allgemeinen Sprachgebrauch spricht man von Vollblüter wenn das englische Vollblut gemeint ist.
Englische Vollblüter erhalten hinter dem Namen des Pferdes ein xx, Anglo-Araber ein x und Arabische Vollblüter ein ox.
Als Stammväter der Englischen Vollblutrasse gelten Darley Arabian (Arabische Abstammung, um 1700), Godolphin Barb (Berber, um 1724) und Byerley Turk (Arabische oder Turkmenische Abstammung, um 1679).
